Rescue Dogs

Our rescue group, Weim Rescue of Arizona, appreciates your considering a rescue! We have many dogs that come thru rescue for one reason or another, people moving, military enlistment, changes in family dynamics that necessitate the finding of a better home for the family pet. There are many reasons and we mainly strive to help the dogs find a home where they are loved and cared for as they deserve to be. Weimaraners are a wonderful breed, very loving and devoted, but they are a relatively high energy dog and thrive on being close to their family, one of the reasons they have been nicknamed the "Velcro dogs"! If you are new to the breed, might I suggest visiting the site http://www.weimclubamerica.org/ and taking the test "Is a Weimaraner right for you?", there is also a wealth of information concerning the breed at this sight.

Please bookmark our rescue site and return often, the content will be changing as we seem to have a constant flow of dogs into rescue. Feel free to contact me (Brian Lamb), at 623-249-3656 or email at blamb11@cox.net to discuss any questions you might have or find out more info on available dogs. I also have a list of people that are interested in adopting, so if you'd like to be put on that list, I will notify you of any updates to the available dogs.

If you would like to contribute to the Rescue group, you can volunteer to help with fostering, transporting, doing home checks and any number of things. Financial support is always welcome, dogs are coming faster each day, we are faced with vet bills, kennel fees, and medicine in ever increasing amounts. If you would like to donate, make your check payable to "Weimaraner Rescue of Arizona" and send it to 5015 W. Saddlehorn Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85083. Also, do to mounting costs and expenses, there will be a $100 adoption fee on any of the dogs listed.

I work with this organization and can help with transport of dogs from them to Arizona.

"Lia and Winnie"

Two spayed females, approximately five years old. These two girls were rescued by the owner from the pound approximately four years ago. He has recently been injured and now can't care for all three dogs (he has another weim he is keeping). Both girls are house trained, doggy door trained, get along well with other dogs and kids. Lia is the alpha, Winnie the submissive one, and they are both bonded to each other, so if possible, it would be best to adopt together, although we'll do what we have to do. Time is of the essence as the owner is traveling for work. Located in Chandler, contact blamb11@cox.net if you're interested.

"Baby"

Approximately four year old female, will be spayed this week. Currently in a rescue group in New Mexico. She is a bit overweight, approximately 75 pounds, and had just gone through a heat, so she looks even more swollen that she really is. She is getting along well with the other dogs and is sweet natured. I can possibly help arranging transportation if necessary, she is located in the Albuquerque area. The adoption fee might be a bit more than the usual $100, the group just basically needs reimbursement for the spay and vet visit. If you are interested, please email me at blamb11@cox.net.

"Jewel"

Approximately 7 months old (give or take), has had some shots, but needs her rabies vaccination. She is intact, so will need to be spayed (rescue will pay for that, I know of low cost places for spay). She is large, approximately 90 pounds (not sure about this, I think the finder is guessing and I've never seen a 7 month old weim at 90 pounds). She is housebroken, but doesn't know a doggy door, gets along great with other dogs and cats, but we aren't sure about kids as the finder doesn't have any young ones at home anymore. She sleeps in a dog bed in the house, she is not leash trained yet, does jump up on occasion when excited, still in a bit of a puppy phase, will dig holes in the yard chasing gophers.... and absolutely loves to swim and play ball. She is very sweet and loving, but finder has too many dogs of her own and would love to find her a good family to call her own. Here are some pictures, looks like she has a full tail, most likely has dew claws also, can't really tell....If you are interested, please email me at blamb11@cox.net.
